Build confidence in Pilates and master your technique by learning the fundamental movement patterns, breathing, alignment and muscular control. Working on the Reformer, Wunda Chair, or a combination of both, you will move through a series of low-impact exercises focused on strength, stability, balance and flexibility.
Classes are taught with intention and a pace that allows time for explanation and understanding. Foundations gives you the opportunity to become familiar with the Reformer, learn fundamental Pilates cues and develop the control needed to progress safely. You will also be introduced to work on the Wunda Chair as part of the wider Pilates apparatus.
With a maximum of 3 people per class, you receive almost private-level support, with individual guidance and hands-on corrections to help you feel confident in your movement.
Foundations Class is best suited for you, if: (please read before booking)
You are completely new to Pilates or new to the Reformer.
You are still learning how to connect your breathing, core and alignment during movement.
You are not yet entirely confident moving on the Reformer and performing a range of exercises.
You would like more time to understand the exercises and improve your technique.
You have not attended Pilates regularly or have had a long break from your practice.
Most people will benefit from attending approximately 5-8 Foundations classes as a complete beginner before moving on, although everybody progresses differently depending on previous experience, confidence and movement ability.
Once you are comfortable with the fundamental exercises, terminology and Reformer set-up, you may be ready to move into Bridge class and later on to Progressions.
If you are unsure of the booking process, which class is right for you please contact me directly so I can recommend a class that will suit you best or answer your questions.
For convenience, all classes are Pay as you go. No block bookings or memberships are required.
IMPORTANT BOOKING INFORMATION:
CANCELLATIONS:
I kindly ask that you provide at least 24 hrs notice if you need to cancel your booking. This gives another client the opportunity to book your place.
Cancellations made more than 24 hrs before your class will receive a class credit.
Class credits are valid for 60 days from the date of issue and will automatically expire if not redeemed within this period.
Cancellations made within 24 hrs of your class are considered a late cancellation and the full class fee will apply.
As classes are limited to just three participants, late cancellations or non-attendance often mean another client misses the opportunity to attend. Your consideration and understanding helps ensure everyone has a fair chance to book a place.
Bookings can be cancelled online or through the booking App by logging into your account.
BOOKING CHANGES:
If you need to move your booking to another available class, please contact me and I'll be happy to help where possible.
Please note that requests to change a booking within 24 hrs of your scheduled class are treated as a late Cancellation, as the original space is unlikely to be filled at short notice.
INJURIES OR HEALTH CONDITIONS (past or present):
Please let me know before attending if you have any injuries, medical conditions or health concerns that may affect your participation.
GRIP SOCKS:
Grip socks are required for all classes for both hygiene and safety. If you don't already have a pair, they are available to purchase in the studio.
PREGNANCY & POSTNATAL:
Unfortunately, the classes are not suitable during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy or until you are at least 6 weeks postnatal (or longer if advised by your healthcare professional).
BEFORE YOUR CLASS:
You will receive an email before your class with everything you need to know, including studio information, what to bring and what to expect. Please take a moment to read this information before attending, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
